Kelly Stehley~ First Grade Teacher
“I touch the future. I teach.”, is more than a quote to me by Christa McAuliffe; it is who I am. As I teach, young minds are growing and developing. I promote potential and nurture young minds as they expand to new possibilities. Who could ask for a greater lifelong career journey?
My educational journey has brought me from my bachelor's degree at Penn State in Elementary Education to a master's degree at Concordia University in Curriculum and Instruction specializing in Reading. Making my way to first grade teacher at Saint Patrick’s School in Newry, PA, has been a joy.
It is my pleasure to collaborate with wonderful colleagues. We encourage and stimulate success in each other and our students. A shining example of our teamwork is the way we share professional development knowledge. Our growth enhances our teaching methods and interactions for and with the students we serve.
Furthermore, I am grateful for a supportive family. My husband of 21 years, Gary, my daughter, Jessica, and my son, Lincoln, encourage me. Now that we are empty nesters, Gary enjoys assisting in cooking at special functions and using his art skills that enhance my classroom environment.
As my journey continues, I look forward to the opportunities and challenges ahead. I am confident that the future ahead will be filled with amazing possibilities as I prepare learners for the 21st century.
